During final registration, on 24th February 2019, AIIMS has released prospectus for MBBS entrance.
According to that prospectus; the final number of seats in the fifteen AIIMS (AIIMS Delhi and fourteen other AIIMS) are:
1. AIIMS Delhi: 107 seats (100 Indian + 07 foreign)
2. AIIMS Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Nagpur and Mangalgiri (Guntur): 100 seats each
3. AIIMS Gorakhpur, Raebareli, Bibinagar (Telangana), Kalyani, Bathinda and Deoghar: 50 seats each.
All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has nine colleges:
AIIMS New Delhi (107 seats; own campus; Established 1956)
AIIMS Jodhpur (100 seats; own campus; Established 2012)
AIIMS Bhopal (100 seats; own campus; Established 2012)
AIIMS Bhubaneswar (100 seats; own campus; Established 2012)
AIIMS Rishikesh (100 seats; own campus; Established 2012)
AIIMS Patna (100 seats; own campus; Established 2012)
AIIMS Raipur (100 seats; own campus; Established 2012)
AIIMS Guntur (50 seats; temporary campus; started 2018)
AIIMS Nagpur (50 seats; temporary campus; started 2018)
Apart from above nine colleges; AIIMS Raebareli (OPD started on 13th August 2018), AIIMS Gorakhpur and AIIMS Kalyani may start admitting students in its MBBS program from 2020.
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has two colleges:
JIPMER Puducherry (150 seats; Established 1823)
JIPMER Karaikal (50 seats; Established 2016).
These were the AIIMS and JIPMER colleges in India.
If we talk about special features of AIIMS, then we talk mostly of AIIMS Delhi because other AIIMS are now not much developed. So they are not in a condition to be compared with other big colleges. They have a good reputation just because of the brand name "AIIMS", which comes from the fame of AIIMS Delhi.
How is this "AIIMS" Brand name so special?
It is all because of the achievements of AIIMS Delhi, since its establishment in 1956. The following are the achievements, which make AIIMS a special brand name:
●Academics
It has very good number of faculties and resident doctors. The faculties are one of the best in the world.
Despite having a very good number of faculties and facilities, AIIMS Delhi admits only 107 students for its MBBS program. Due to this, faculty:student ratio is maintained high and students get to learn effectively.
●Clinicalexposure Due to high number of patients coming everyday, students get to study a variety of clinical cases.
●Practicals Labs are well equipped with latest equipments and practicals and seminars are held regularly.
●Students Students are admitted through an All India entrance test which is very tough, allowing the best brains to take admission.
●Infrastructure It is spread in more than 150 acres of land and has the best infrastructures in India.
●Research This college recieves largest research funds from the government in India. The teaching is research oriented. AIIMS Delhi has most number of published and patented research papers among all the medical colleges in India.
●International Internship
Students at AIIMS Delhi, get many chances to do their internships, research and other training in many reputed medical colleges in the world, like John Hopkins University, Harward University, in medical colleges of Israel,etc.
●Annual fest The annual fest of AIIMS is Pulse. It is the largest annual college fest of India. It continues for a week and involves participation of students from all over India. Many famous people like singers, actors,etc. are guests in Pulse. ●Popularity among people. Due to above listed qualities, it has become a very popular name among the people, not only in India, but in other countries too. And hence AIIMS students and Doctors become a highly popular personality in their locality. This feature of popularity is also a major feature behind more students dreaming for AIIMS. So due to above features, AIIMS is considered special.

As a result, good doctors were attracted towards its facilities and research fundings and a competition arise between doctors to work in this institute, as a result best doctors from India were recruited and they did many researches and their achievements made AIIMS a globally recognised institute and more number of patients began to come for their treatment, making it one of the busiest hospitals of India.
Due to this it became a dream institute of India's medical aspirants.
Now AIIMS has become a brand. In its name, many AIIMS-like institutions are being opened.
In 2012, six AIIMS-like institutions began functioning in Bhopal, Jodhpur, Patna, Rishikesh, Bhubaneswar and Raipur.
In 2018, AIIMS Guntur and Nagpur began admission to its MBBS program.
