JIPMER MBBS 2019- Steps to fill Application form, Important Dates, Eligibility, Fees, pattern and Seat distribution


JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) Puducherry had released application forms for admissions to its MBBS programme of July 2019 on Wednesday (6th March) last week. The last date for filling up the form is 12th April 2019 (Friday), till 5 pm.

The Examination will be conducted in two shifts (Shift 1st- 10 am to 12:30 pm and Shift 2nd- 3 pm to 5:30 pm) on 2nd June 2019 (Sunday).

Availability of Admit card: 20.05.2019 (Monday) 10.00 AM to 02.06.2019 (Sunday) 8.00 AM.

Pattern and Duration of Examinations
Examination will be conducted for two and half hours (150 minutes). It will contain following sections:
Physics= 60 MCQ questions
Chemistry= 60 MCQ questions
Biology= 60 MCQ questions
Reasoning= 10 MCQ questions
English= 10 MCQ questions.
A total of 200 questions will be asked from 11th and 12th class syllabus of all boards of India.

Distribution of seats
This will be a common entrance examination for 200 Seats (150 seats at JIPMER, Puducherry + 50 seats at JIPMER, Karaikal). Detailed distribution of seat:
1. JIPMER Puducherry
For All India: UR- 45; OBC- 28; SC- 15; ST- 7; EWSs- 10
For Puducherry Residents: P-UR- 19; P-OBC- 10; P-SC- 5; P-ST- 3; P-EWSs- 3
For NRI/OCI: 5

2. JIPMER Karaikal
For All India: UR- 16; OBC- 9; SC- 5; ST- 2; EWSs- 3
For Puducherry residents: P- UR- 8; P-OBC- 3; P-SC- 1; P-ST- 1; P-EWSs- 1
For NRI/OCI: 1
(Here; EWSs= Economically Weaker Sections- new 10% reservation scheme launched in January 2019 for those who have: Less than Rs. 8 Lac Annual Income; Less than 5 acres of Agricultural Land, etc.)

Eligibility criteria for JIPMER MBBS exam:
1. Must be Indian Nationals/ Overseas Citizens of India.
2. He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2019. There is no upper age limit.
3. Have passed intermediate examination from a recognised University or Board, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English as compulsory subjects. They should have also scored a minimum of 50% marks (for UR and EWSs) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology taken together. For SC/ST, it is 40% and for Physically Handicapped it is 45%.

Application fees
UR/EWSs/OBC/P-OBC/P-UR/P-EWSs: 1500 + Transaction charges.
SC/ST/P-SC/P-ST: 1200 + Transaction charges.
NRI/OCI: 3000 + Transaction charges.
PwD & P-PwD: No fees.

Documents to be Uploaded
1. Photograph: Must be taken with a placard on which name and date of photograph is written. The date should not be earlier than 31st January 2019. And background should be white. Image size should not be more than 80 Kb (minimum 20 Kb), and dimensions should be 30mm × 45mm.

2. Signature: Signed with blue/black pen on a white paper of dimensions 80mm × 35mm and should be properly scanned. Size should not be more than 80 Kb (minimum 20 Kb).

3. Caste Certificate: For SC/ST/OBC Candidates. It should not be more than  800 Kb in size.

4. Income and Assets Certificate: For EWSs Candidates. It should not be more than 800 Kb in size.

5. PwD Certificate: For Physically Handicapped candidates. It should not be more than 800 Kb in size.

Steps to fill Application form
Many students are facing difficulties in filling up the form. So here I have written all the procedures/steps for filling up your JIPMER Application form.
1.Visit http://jipmer.puducherry.gov.in/....mbbs-2019
2. Under MBBS 2019 section click on Apply online link.
3. A new webpage will open. Fill up your name, date of birth, mobile number and email address and fill up captcha and press on register button.
4. Your Application number and password, along with link for further registration will be sent on your Email Id and mobile number (link will be sent only on email).
5. Click on the link sent to you through Email. And login with your application number and password sent to you.
6. Now click on Edit Application form button, which is on the top left corner.
7. Fill all your necessary details, upload you photo and fill up captcha and click on Proceed.
8. Now you will be redirected to payment gateway. Make online payment with any of the three options: Debit card, Credit card or Internet Banking.
9. After successful payment you will get a popup message on your screen: "Your Application form has been submitted successfully".
10. Now print your Application form for future reference and logout.

JIPMER MBBS 2019- Exam dates, seats, cutoff, syllabus, pattern and books- Everything you need to know before applying for JIPMER 2019

About JIPMER:
JIPMER ( Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research), Puducherry conducts its own entrance examination for admission to various medical education programmes in JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal.
One of those conducted exams is JIPMER MBBS exam for admission to its MBBS program.

Number of seats in JIPMER:
Puducherry Campus= 150
Karaikal Campus= 50
Total= 200 seats.

Reservation and seat distribution:
1. Vertical reservation: 49% UR, 27% OBC, 13% SC, 11% ST
2. Horizontal reservation: 40% Puducherry resident, 5% physically challenged.

Pattern of Exam:
Exam is conducted in online mode. Paper is MCQ type and contains 200 questions- 60 questions each from physics, chemistry and biology and 10 questions each from English and Reasoning.
For each correct response, you are awarded with four marks and for wrong answer a negative marking of -1 marks.
Exam is conducted in two shifts. Score obtained in test is considered as raw score.
After that percentile score is calculated in each shift and then ranking is done.

Tie breaking method:
To break tie between students having same percentile, following strategy is adopted in given priority:
1. Lower negative marking
2. Higher percentile in biology
3. Higher percentile in chemistry
4. Higher percentile in physics
5. Higher percentile in English
6. Higher percentile in Reasoning
7. Seniority by age.

JIPMER MBBS Cut-off:
Approximate cutoff for General category is 630/800 for JIPMER Puducherry and 590/800 for Karaikal.

JIPMER Syllabus:
Jipmer asks questions of physics, chemistry and biology from 10+2 syllabus of all boards of this country.
Approximately it is 80% NCERT based and 20% other state syllabus.
In English mostly (90%) vocabulary questions are asked. Apart from vocabulary, comprehension, fill in the blanks may be asked.

JIPMER 2019 EXAM DATES:
Starting of registration- 6th March 2019.
Closing of registration- 12th April 2019.
Release of Admit Card- 3rd week of May 2019.
Date of Examination- 2nd June 2019.
Declaration of results- 2nd week of June 2019.
